Is there an AI receptionist for nail techs and beauty salons?
Yes. Ansela answers your studio’s phone in your studio’s name while your hands are busy. She books treatments at the length you set into her Ansela diary, books the patch test first when that’s your rule, gives the prices you’ve set and takes messages. Plans start at £99 a month + VAT.

The call she took while Priya was mid-set
A Friday call to a one-room studio. The caller wants two treatments for a wedding, hasn’t had the patch test, and swaps her time to fit her hair.
Example call; Gilded Nail Studio and the caller are made up.
This call may be recorded. Thank you for calling Gilded Nail Studio. Please hold for a moment while I connect you.Recorded, and played before she picks up.
Gilded Nail Studio, Ansela speaking. How can I help?
Hi, have you got anything tomorrow for a gel mani? Oh, and lashes. Can I get both? I’ve got a wedding Sunday.
Congratulations. Have you had lashes done with Priya before?
No, never. My friend had them done there, that’s how I found you.
Thanks. For new lash clients Priya needs a patch test at least 48 hours before, so lashes before Sunday won’t work. I can book the patch test now and the gel manicure tomorrow.
Oh. Right. Okay, just the nails then, and I’ll do lashes next time. Tomorrow afternoon?
Tomorrow I have half one or four.
Four. No, half one, I’m getting my hair done at four.
Half one, gel manicure. Can I take your name, and is that Chloe with a C?
Yeah, Chloe Barnes. And can you put me down for the patch test too, whenever?
I’ll pass that to Priya so she can fit it in. You’re booked for half one tomorrow, Chloe.

What she does for a beauty studio, and what she won’t
She works from what you tell her: your treatments, how long each takes, your prices, your patch-test rule and your hours.
- Gels, infills, lash sets and brow laminations, booked at the length you’ve given each one.
- The patch test, booked first for new clients if that’s your rule.
- “Do you do BIAB?” and “Where do I park?” answered from your own list.
- Moving or cancelling a treatment, without you putting the brush down.
- Won’t give advice about skin, allergies or a reaction. She takes the details and you ring back.
- Won’t book into Fresha, Treatwell or Booksy. If your diary lives there, she takes the details for you to put in.
- Won’t take a deposit. She tells callers how you take deposits, and you follow up.
03
What happens when a nail tech misses a call?
Half a set done, gel curing, and a phone you can’t touch. Most people ringing a nail or lash studio have a date in mind: a wedding, a holiday, a birthday. If nobody answers, they ring the next studio on the list, and a sole trader rarely has anyone else to pick up.
Calls missed while you’re working are often new clients, who have no reason to wait for you. A voice that answers in your studio’s name, books the slot and tells them what to expect is worth more than a number that rings out.
04
What does an AI receptionist ask when someone rings a beauty studio?
Which treatment they want: gels, infills, a lash set, brow lamination. Whether they’ve been before. For new clients she can book the patch test first, if that’s your rule, and say your rule on timing in your words.
She offers the slots you’ve opened, at the length each treatment takes, then takes a name and number. If the caller changes the day or the time halfway through, she works with the last one they say. Before the call ends she reads back the treatment, the day and the time, so there’s no surprise on the day.
05
Can she handle patch tests, deposits and questions about skin?
The patch test, yes: you tell her your rule and she follows it. Deposits, no. She can tell callers how you take them, and you follow up. She takes no payments.
If a caller asks whether a treatment suits their skin, or mentions an allergy or a reaction, she gives no advice. She takes the details and passes them to you to ring back.
06
Does she work with Fresha, Treatwell or Booksy?
She doesn’t connect to them. Many studios use one of those, and a second diary would mean a double booking. If your appointments live in an app, set her to take messages and you enter the booking. If you don’t have an online booking system, she can run the diary for you, and you can see and change it on your phone.

Where the phone usually is while the gel’s curing
We built Ansela because we kept ringing tradespeople who couldn’t pick up, and then booking someone else. She isn’t a call centre. She answers in your name, says what you’ve told her to say, and writes down what the caller wanted.
If she gets a call wrong, forward us the recording.

How do you set up Ansela?
You choose a plan before your number goes live.
For beauty, nails, lashes and brows: keep your current number and divert it to Ansela, or take a new UK business number for your website and cards, or use both.
- Give her your website or your Instagram. She reads it and comes back with your treatments, prices and lengths for you to check.
- Pick a voice and try her. Have the wedding call above with her yourself, in your browser, before she takes a real one. Try to skip the patch test.
- Divert your mobile. We give you a UK number. One short code diverts your mobile to it when you don’t pick up. Another turns it off.

Questions beauty, nails, lashes and brows ask
Can she insist on a patch test for new clients?
Yes, if you tell her the rule. She explains it to the caller and books the patch test before the treatment.
I work from home. Does she give out my address?
Only if you tell her to, and only to booked clients if that’s your rule.
Can she take a deposit?
No. She tells callers how you take deposits, and you send the link or take it yourself.
I use Fresha. Can she book into it?
No. She doesn’t connect to Fresha, Treatwell or Booksy. She can take messages for you to enter, or run her own diary if you’re not using an app.
Do I have to change my number?
No. We give you a UK number and you divert your own to it with a short code (codes by network). Turn the divert off whenever you like.
What is a minute, and can she take two calls at once?
A minute is time she spends on the phone with callers. Starter includes 600 a month, extra minutes are 20p each up to a limit you set, and Starter takes 1 call at a time. A caller who rings while she’s busy can leave a voicemail, which doesn’t use your minutes.
Is there a contract, and what happens after the £1.99 month?
No minimum term. After the first month it carries on at your plan price plus VAT unless you cancel, which you can do from your billing page at any time.
Keep your hands steady, she’s got the phone.
